ABOUT

The story behind Jupiter’s Echo Designs.

The studio

Jupiter’s Echo Designs is my independent game studio based in the UK.

Outside of work, I’ve always had creative outlets. I spent years playing in bands and making music. I later taught myself illustration, digital art, animation, and then 3D design. While making some cartoons, I discovered how much I loved building something from start to finish. I’ve always been drawn to computers and video games, and over time that interest naturally led to making them myself.

Style

I grew up on games like Monkey Island 2 and Day of the Tentacle, and their style of warmth, humour, and personality still influences my work. I’m still a huge fan of old point-and-click art styles, and they shape a lot of what I draw today (like this one).

For my mobile games, I lean into simpler designs to help keep things clearer on a smaller screen. I avoid clutter and confusing navigation, and I put feel first.

Tools

I draw all of my artwork by hand in Affinity Designer - it's the tool I've used since I first started learning digital art.

Steinberg Cubase Pro is my DAW of choice for recording music and mixing sound effects.

I'm a big fan of open source software, and their communities. I code all of my games exclusively in the Godot game engine, and I use Blender for my 3D design work.

Why “Jupiter’s Echo”

The name comes from an early design of mine about a space cat called Jupiter’s Echo.

The name stayed with me over the years and reminds me why I make games in the first place: curiosity, exploration, and a bit of fun.

What’s next

The goal is simple: keep making games and improve with each one. Puffyfish is my debut, and I plan to release many more.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I play my games everywhere — on the sofa, on the train, and whenever I get five minutes — and they’re designed to play well in short bursts.

If something breaks or feels off, you’re always welcome to email me — I read everything. Let me know — I’ll sort it.

Why Cats?

My wife and I live with three cats, and we’ve been their butlers for many years.

Cats make excellent creative directors: opinionated, dramatic, and full of energy. They rarely compromise on their vision — and will immediately take a nap if you try to suggest any ideas.
